Driver-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEMΒ  . Ensure that front wheels are in straight-ahead position.
  2. Remove left and right air bag module bolt access covers from rear of steering wheel. Remove steering wheel bottom access cover and disconnect air bag module connector. Remove and discard 2 air bag module retaining bolts. See Figure . Remove air bag module.
