1998 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 P, AWDSECTION A/C System Performance
  1. Park vehicle out of direct sunlight. Connect manifold gauge set to service valves. Close all doors and windows. Insert thermometer in center vent.
  2. Place A/C-heater control panel at recirculated air mode and highest blower speed setting. Operate engine at 1500 RPM for 10 minutes to allow A/C system to stabilize.
  3. Temperature at center vent must be within 35-49Β°F (1.7-9.4Β°C). Ensure high side pressure is within specifications. See A/C SYSTEM HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  table. Low side pressure must remain constant at 22-50 psi (1.5-3.5 kg/cm2 ) throughout normal operating range.
