Coil Spring & Strut Assembly: Reassembly
1996 Mercury Sable LS, 4D Sedan, 3.0 SSECTION Reassembly
- To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Bearing and seal are pressed into assembly. Ensure washers are installed in correct position. Check spring insulator. If outer metal part is bent or damaged, bend it back. Ensure that is does not touch locator on bearing and seal assembly.
- Check spring seat, bearing, seal and bearing plate. Replace as necessary. If when new struts are delivered in locked down position and no external tie down is present, rotate upper end of rod counterclockwise to unlock. Ensure spring is correctly seated in both spring seats.
