Driver-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

1996 Mercury Sable GS, 4D Wagon, AX4NSECTION Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ  . Disable SRS. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEMΒ  .
  2. Remove steering wheel spoke covers to access and remove two screw and washer assemblies retaining air bag module to steering wheel. See Fig 1 . Disconnect driver-side air bag module wiring connector from clockspring connector. Remove air bag module.
