- Ensure vehicle front wheels are in straight-ahead position, and steering column shaft alignment mark is at 12 o'clock position. Adjust clockspring, see CLOCKSPRING under ADJUSTMENTSΒ .
- Install clockspring to steering column lock cylinder housing with three retaining screws and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Route clockspring assembly wiring down column assembly and connect harness connector.
- Remove tape strips. If new clockspring is being installed, remove locking mechanism. See Figure . Install steering column lower shroud and lower instrument panel cover. Install ignition switch lock cylinder and steering wheel. Activate SRS. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system function. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECKΒ .
