Generator Load Test
Connect an ammeter to battery wire at rear of generator. Turn on all accessories. Start and run engine at fast idle. Measure generator output current. Current should be within 10 percent of rated output. If output current is below specification, repair or replace generator.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
