Control Assembly Test
1994 Mercury Cougar 3.8 4, 4R70WSECTION Control Assembly Test
- Unplug connector from control unit. Ground control unit pin No. 4. Connect jumper wire between control unit pins No. 2 and 3. See Fig 1. Connect test light between pin No. 1 and ground.
- Using a fused jumper wire, connect battery voltage to pin No. 2. Test light should not come on. Connect battery voltage to pin No. 5. Rear window symbol on switch should come on.
- Momentarily press rocker switch. Indicator should come on and stay on after rocker switch returns to normal position.
- Indicator should go off only if rocker switch is pressed again, jumper wire is removed from between pins No. 2 and 3, or approximately 10 minutes have elapsed. Replace control unit if test results are not as specified.
