Distributor: Service and Repair

1993 Mercury Villager V6-181 3.0L SOHCSECTION Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove the two (2) screws securing the distributor cap and remove the cap.
2. Remove the bolt securing the distributor.
3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector and remove the distributor.

INSTALLATION

Timing Marks On Crank Pulley (Yellow Is TDC):




1. Turn the engine over until #1 cylinder (R.F.) is at TDC compression stroke.

Distributor Marks:




2. Align the dot on the distributor shaft with the lower protruding line at the bottom of the distributor housing (not the indented mark).

Ignition Rotor Position At #1 TDC:




3. Install the distributor, making sure the rotor is aligned as shown when fully seated.
4. Install the distributor securing bolt and tighten slightly.
5. Connect the crankshaft position sensor terminal.
6. Install the distributor cap and tighten the screws.
7. Adjust timing. Adjustments
