Module Check

1993 Mercury Sable GS, 4D Sedan, 3.0 U, AXODESECTION Module Check
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect voltmeter as in QUICK TEST A1. Using jumper wire, ground circuit No. 200. Start engine. Rotate steering wheel in both directions for 90 seconds. Note changes in required turning effort. Effort should vary noticeably.
  2. After 90 seconds, if system is okay, voltmeter will indicate a sweep pattern between battery voltage and zero. Pattern will repeat 4 times, there will be 5-second delay and pattern will repeat again. If system malfunctions, 6 or no sweeps will occur.
  3. If effort changes with sweeps, proceed to QUICK TEST A4  . If effort is unchanged with 4 sweeps, proceed to QUICK TEST A7  . If 2 sweeps are observed, proceed to QUICK TEST A19  . If no effort change is noted with zero or 6 sweeps, proceed to QUICK TEST A12  . If effort change is noted with zero or 6 sweeps, proceed to QUICK TEST A20  .
