On vehicles with A/T, the MLP monitors shift lever positions and then inputs signal to the ECA and transaxle control module. On 1.8L engines, this signal affects starter engagement, air/fuel ratio, idle speed, ignition timing, fuel pressure, canister purge flow and A/C cut-off. On 2.2L models, this signal affects starter engagement, air/fuel ratio, idle speed, EGR flow (2.2L non-turbo) and ignition timing (2.2L turbo).
