Control Module

1991 Mercury Tracer Base, 4D Sedan, AutomaticSECTION Control Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis and 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

System temperature control is accomplished by a control module containing a microprocessor. Control module is mounted on top of control panel assembly. See Fig 1 .

Inputs to control module include in-car temperature sensor, ambient temperature sensor, control panel blower switch and temperature and function lever settings. These inputs are used to determine blend door position (through direct current actuator motor) and variable blower speed. When vacuum selector valve is in floor position, blower operation is controlled by thermal blower lock-out switch.

NOTE: Control module is grounded behind right trim panel.
