Retrieving Codes: Notes

1991 Mercury Tracer Base, 4D Sedan, AutomaticSECTION Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1992 Mercury Tracer, 1992 Ford Probe, and 1992 Ford Escort. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Codes from EEC system are retrieved through self-test connector using the following self-test procedures: Key On Engine Off (KOEO) and Key On Engine Running (KOER). See QUICK TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no code or only intermittent fault is found after performing KOEO and KOER self-tests, proceed to SWITCH MONITOR TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.

NOTE: Before hooking up equipment to diagnose EEC system, prepare and visually inspect vehicle. See VISUAL CHECK & VEHICLE PREPARATION.
