Failure Mode Effects Management (FMEM), Code 98 or 998

1991 Mercury Tracer Base, 4D Sedan, AutomaticSECTION Failure Mode Effects Management (FMEM), Code 98 or 998

The FMEM mode allows system operation when sensor(s) fails or transmits signals which are out of normal operating range. When this happens, ECA substitutes a mid-range signal for the defective sensor(s) while continuing to monitor the sensor(s). If the faulty sensor's signals return to normal operating range, the ECA will use those signals. A Code 98 or 998 will be displayed when the FMEM mode is in effect.
