Fuel Pump: Testing: Notes

If a complaint is diagnosed as a fuel supply problem, fuel pump, lines, and tank must be tested or inspected before replacing fuel pump. Make the following tests and inspections:

CAUTION: Fuel systems with electric fuel pumps may be under high pressure even when engine is not running. System pressure must be relieved before any part of fuel system is removed. To relieve pressure, remove fuel pump fuse. Run engine until it stops, then crank for an additional 3 seconds.
