Air Control Valve

1983 Mercury Lynx GS, 4D Hatchback, 1.6 2, AutomaticSECTION Air Control Valve

Three basic types of air control valves are used: Standard air control valve, air control/shut-off valve and air control/shut-off valve with orifice. These valves direct air pump output to exhaust manifold or downstream to catalyst, depending upon engine control system. Air control and air control/shut-off valves are of similar construction except that bottom air outlet is capped on shut-off valves.
