Fixed Orifice Tube: Replacement

1982 Mercury Capri L, 3.3L Eng VIN BSECTION Replacement
  1. Discharge system and disconnect liquid line from evaporator core inlet tube connection. Cap liquid line to prevent dirt from entering system.
  2. Insert a fixed orifice tube removal/installation tool into evaporator inlet tube (over fixed orifice tube). Turn tool slightly to the right. This will engage orifice tube tangs into the locking slots of the tool.
CAUTION: Do not turn tool more than slightly. Tube could be broken if tool is turned too much.
  3. Position removal/installation tool nut to top of threaded portion of tool. Turn nut to the right. As nut travels down tool shaft, the fixed orifice tube will be pulled from the inlet tube.
  4. To install fixed orifice tube, reverse removal procedure. Be careful that tube is not damaged or broken when installing tube with removal/installation tool.
