Right or Left Track

1971 Mercury Montego Base, 5.8L Eng VIN H, Not Available TransSECTION Right or Left Track
  1. Remove seat assembly from vehicle, remove right and left cushion side shields from cushion.
  2. Remove retaining clamps and disconnect drive cables from tracks.
  3. If motor bracket is attached to track being replaced, remove bracket-to-track screws and remove bracket, motor and drive cables as an assembly.
  4. If motor bracket is not attached to track being replaced, remove motor to bracket screws and remove motor and cables as an assembly.
  5. On bucket and split-bench seats only, remove cotter keys and pivot pins that attach torsion bars to ends of each track and remove the torsion bars. Remove track-to-seat cushion frame bolts and remove track.
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure.
