Structure
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit housing is made out of diecast aluminum and the cover is made out corrosion-protected sheet steel. The ME-SFI [ME] control unit is water and dust protected.
The inside contains the 32-bit measuring and control electronics for the engine management.
Ground connection
The "circuit 31" ground connection takes place over a number of ground lines.
Voltage supply
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit is supplied with a power via "circuit 30 secured" and also for ignition ON via "circuit 87 M4". In the control voltage range, it has both short-circuit protection and reversed polarity protection. Power is supplied through several engaged parallel pins connected in parallel to relieve the electrical connections.
Variants
The variants of the engine management, such as country and exhaust variants, are activated with the vehicle diagnosis system via variant coding.
Exchange of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit is not necessary.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
