Reversing Camera Control Unit, Component Description - GF54.65-P-5030RR
Model 190 up to 11/30/18
up to model year 2019
With Code 218 (Rear view camera)
Location
The reversing camera control unit is located in the center above the license plate number in the rear bumper.
Tasks
The reversing camera control unit has the following tasks:
- Recording area to the rear of the vehicle
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Recording area to the rear of the vehicle
The reversing camera control unit is an optical parking aid. Its tasks include a surrounding field recording of the rear area, the generation of dynamic guide lines and the sending of the video picture to the head unit (A26/17). The pictures recorded by the reversing camera are processed accordingly and electronically corrected for distortion by the integrated control unit for display in the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8). The reversing camera is supplied with voltage by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
The reversing camera is automatically calibrated by the integrated control unit.
Reading in of signals
The reversing camera control unit also reads in the following information via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI):
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Drive position "R" engaged
- Displayed vehicle speed
- Wheel speed and wheel rotation direction
- Steering wheel angle
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued.
Output of signals
The signals are issued through the following connections:
- Direct line
- User interface CAN
Direct line
The reversing camera control unit transmits picture data to the head unit via an LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signal) line.
User interface CAN
The reversing camera control unit sends, among other things, the following signals via the user interface CAN:
- Request for picture output in Audio/COMAND display
- Diagnostic data
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Structure
The reversing camera control unit is a color picture camera with a wide-angle lens (angle of vision ∠ > 130°) and integrated control unit.
