The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit is the evaluation and arithmetic unit of the sensor system for traffic area monitoring. It evaluates object information, radar sensor system object information as well as lane data of the multifunction camera.

Function 

The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit processes this information for the execution of the following functions:

  • Front collision warning system
  • Rear collision warning system
  • Autonomous partial braking and maximum full-stop braking
  • Distance control
  • Track guidance
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Evasive steering support

The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.

For the execution of the functions, the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit processes the following information:

  • Operating condition for engine/drivetrain
  • Driving stage engaged
  • Active transmission mode
  • Parking brake status
  • Wheel speeds, wheel rotation directions
  • Operating requests
  • Parking system status (vehicles with Active Parking Assist)
  • Brake system status

The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit evaluates these input factors and transmits the following information and requests:
