Headlamp cleaning system (HCS [SRA]) function - GF82.15-P-0002PP

2006 Mercedes Benz C350 4MaticSECTION Headlamp cleaning system (HCS [SRA]) function - GF82.15-P-0002PP

MODEL 203.0 /2 /7, 209.3 /4 with CODE (600a) Headlamp cleaning system

Function requirements:

  • circuit 15 ON

Function

Pressing the HCS switch (S1s7) in the light switch module (S1) will switch on the headlamp cleaning system (HCS). The corresponding input of the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) which reads in the HCS switch (S1s7) is then switched to ground. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches circuit 30 through to the HCS pump (M5/2). The HCS pump (M5/2) builds up pressure in the washer fluid line, which counteracts the return springs of the telescopic nozzles.

The telescopic nozzles are thus extended, spraying water onto the headlamp lenses. After the on period has elapsed, the pressure in the washer fluid line drops again and the nozzles move back into their initial position as a result of the spring force.

IMPORTANT Pressing the HCS switch (S1s7) again while the headlamp cleaning cycle is underway will be ignored. A further cleaning cycle can only be activated after the previous one has ended.

Automatic actuation (for vehicles as from 1.6.04)

Following 15 actuations of the windshield washer system, the HCS pump (M5/2) is automatically actuated. This automatic actuation is performed by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Function

For each actuation of the windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) the internal counter in the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is incremented upwards by one until it reaches the value "15", whereupon the HCS pump (M5/2) is actuated and the counter reset to "0".

IMPORTANT With circuit 15 Off the internal counter is always reset to "0".
