For various functions the combination switch (S4) has various switch groups.

All switch positions are transmitted as follows:

  • On model 203: Read by the EIS control unit (N73) up to 30.6.03 or the steering column module (N80) as of 1.7.03. Their statuses are relayed as messages to the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).
  • On model 209: Read by the steering column module (N80). Their statuses are relayed as messages over CAN-B to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Left and right turn signal lamp switch (S4s1):Β 

The left and right turn signal lamp switch (S4s1) has three positions:

  • Flashing off
  • Left turn signal
  • Right turn signal

Headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S4s2):Β 

As long as the headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S4s2) is operated, the corresponding contact is closed.

Low beam switch (S4s3) (model 203 only):Β 

After pressing the low beam switch (S4s3), the corresponding contact remains closed for as long as the low beam switch (S4s3) is operated.

Windshield washer system switch (S4s4):Β 

The windshield washer system switch (S4s4) has three positions:

  • Park position
  • One-touch wiping
  • WASH

Wipe switch (S4s5):Β 

The wipe switch (S4s5) has three positions:

  • Windshield wiper off,
  • Intermittent wipe
  • WIPE STAGE 1
  • WIPE STAGE 2
