2006 Mercedes Benz C350 4MaticSECTION Restraint system control unit data, function - GF82.95-P-3005PM

MODEL 203.0 /2 /7 with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system

The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives the following messages via a direct digital crash signal from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and also (redundant) via the Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) diagnosis from the central gateway control unit (N93) (up to 30.11.04) or from the EIS control unit (N73) (as from 1.12.04). The central gateway control unit (N93) (up to 30.11.04) or the EIS control unit (N73) (as from 1.12.04) receives the message over the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

The crash is automatically detected by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7). The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives the crash information, on the one hand, via a direct digital crash signal from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7), and on the other hand additionally (redundant) via the CAN-B from the central gateway control unit (N93) (up to 30.11.04) or from the EIS control unit (N73) (as from 1.12.04). In the event of an accident, an automatic emergency call is made immediately. This occurs no matter how severe the detected accident actually is.

Error messages

The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) emits a life signal every 500 ms. Thus, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) is notified of proper operation of the crash detection system.

The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) cyclically performs a self-test. If the red LEDs in the SOS push-button switch (S93/3) light up, this indicates - under normal operating conditions - a system fault. The corresponding error message (status message) appears in the display of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). The red LEDs remain on until either circuit 15 is switched off or the error is eliminated. The SOS push-button switch (S93/3) is monitored. A stuck SOS push-button switch (S93/3) is detected. False signals are ignored and the system remains operational.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
