Rear Abs Wheel-Speed Sensor Removal/Installation [AWD]: Notes
2023 Mazda CX-5 SSECTION Notes
CAUTION:
- Do not allow a magnetized tool such as a magnetized screwdriver to come into contact with the ABS sensor rotor. If the ABS sensor rotor becomes magnetized it will be unable to read the ABS wheel speed sensor waveform correctly resulting in an ABS system malfunction to be determined and the inability to perform ABS control. If a magnetized object comes into contact with the ABS sensor rotor, it will be necessary to newly replace the rear drive shaft (ABS sensor rotor).
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
- Release the electric parking brake.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Bass-box (With Bose®) (See BASS-BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Sub-trunk (See SUB-TRUNK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Partially peel back the trunk side trim to a position where the rear ABS wheel speed sensor connector can be disconnected. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
.)
- Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor connector.
- Press the grommet tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure and detach them from the vehicle body.
- Press the grommet in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and press out the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor toward the outside of the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- After installation, verify that there is no twisting in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor.
