  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Detach the hood lock release handle and position aside.
  3. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover and instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement. See Figure .
  4. NOTE: The ignition should be in the OFF position.
