Clock Spring Removal/Installation: Notes

2010 Mazda 5 Sport, 2.3 L, StandardSECTION Notes

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3] .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.Β 
  3. Remove the following parts:
    1. Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATIONΒ .)
    2. Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Meter hood (See METER HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  7. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 sΒ  and then goes out.
    • If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and inspect the system.
