System Check

2010 Mazda 5 Sport, 2.3 L, StandardSECTION System Check

NOTE: Shutter valve actuator rod extends for 5 seconds after engine is started.
  1. Start engine, and let idle. VICS shutter valve actuator rod should be pulled at idle. See Fig 1 . If actuator rod is pulled, go to next step. If actuator rod is not pulled, check following:

    Repair or replace vacuum hoses or components as necessary.

  2. Inspect shutter valve rod operation. See VICS SHUTTER VALVE ROD OPERATION (PROTEGE & PROTEGE5)Β  table.

    If shutter valve rod operation is not as specified, check following:

    Repair or replace vacuum hoses or components as necessary.
