PINPOINT TEST 7: THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE SCAN TOOL

Normal Operation

The power steering control module (PSCM) communicates with the scan tool through the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN). Circuits (W/L) (HS-CAN +) and (W) (HS-CAN -) provide the HS-CAN connection to the PSCM. The PSCM shares the HS-CAN with the PCM, the ABS module, the 4X4 control module, the instrument cluster (IC), the occupant classification sensor module (OCSM) and the restraints control module (RCM). Voltage for the PSCM is provided by circuit (Y/GY) and circuit (B/V) provides ground.

Possible Causes
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- PSCM

Diagnostic Procedure

CAUTION:Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. See Battery Disconnect.
