CONDENSER CORE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION










Removal/Installation

NOTE:If a condenser core leak is suspected, the condenser core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. See Component Test - Evaporator/Condenser Core On-Vehicle Leak Test.

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Recover the refrigerant. See Discharging And Recovery.

3. Remove the front bumper cover. See Service and Repair.

4. Remove the 4 radiator bracket bolts.

- To install, tighten to 8 Nm {0.8 kgf-m, 71 in-lbf}.

5. Detach the RH and LH air deflectors from the radiator brackets.

6. Remove the 4 radiator bracket bolts.

7. Detach and remove the 2 radiator brackets.

8. Remove the condenser outlet and inlet fitting nuts and disconnect the fittings.

- Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm {1.5 kgf-m, 133 in-lbf}.

2.5L or 3.0L vehicles with automatic transaxle

1. Release the 2 transmission cooler line clamps and disconnect the lines from the A/C condenser.

NOTE:The transmission cooler hose inlet (upper tube) attaches to the transmission outlet line (passenger side front of transmission). The transmission cooler outlet (lower tube) attaches to the transmission inlet line (driver side of transmission).

All vehicles

1. Remove the 2 condenser bolts.

2. Remove the condenser core.

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Install new gasket seals and O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. See Refrigerant Oil Adding.

4. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. See Air Conditioning (A/C) System Evacuation And Charging.
