FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

NOTE:Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.Power seat shown, manual seat similar.For torque specifications and torque sequence, see the procedure steps.










Removal

WARNING:Always wear eye protection when servicing a vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING:Never probe the electrical connectors on safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
NOTE:The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE:The supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
1. Position the front seat rearward and remove the 2 seat-to-floor front bolts.

2. Position the front seat forward and depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). See Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering And Repowering.

3. Remove the 2 seat-to-floor rear nut covers and 2 rear nuts.

4. Disconnect the seat harness electrical connector(s) and remove the seat.

- For the passenger seat, release the pin-type retainer and detach the wiring harness.

Installation

NOTE:The seat-to-floor fasteners must be tightened in the sequence described in this procedure.
NOTE:The front passenger seat uses different seat-to-floor mounting bolts then the driver seat. Make sure the correct bolts are used when mounting the front passenger seat.
1. Position the seat in the vehicle and connect the seat harness electrical connector(s).

- For the passenger seat, install the pin-type retainer to attach the wiring harness to the seat.

2. Install the inboard side seat-to-floor rear nut and rear nut cover.

- Tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

3. Install the inboard side seat-to-floor rear nut and rear nut cover.

- Tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

4. Repower the SRS. See Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering And Repowering.

5. Position the seat rearward and install the inboard side seat-to-floor front bolt.

- Tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

6. Install the outboard side seat-to-floor front bolt.

7. Make sure the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants after installation.
