ENGINE COOLANT FLUSHING - 4.0L

Engine and Radiator

WARNING:Do not open the cooling system while it is hot or while the engine is running. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
1. Drain the cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.

2. Remove the thermostat. See - Service and Repair.

3. Install the thermostat housing without the thermostat.

4. Flush the engine and radiator.

5. Install the thermostat. See - Service and Repair.

6. Back flush the heater core if necessary.

7. Fill the cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.

Heater Core

1. Partially drain the cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.

2. Back flush the heater core.

3. Fill the cooling system. See - Removal and Replacement.
