DETECTION CONDITION
  • P0219, P0297, and P1270 indicate the vehicle has been operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle to exceed a calibration limit.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • Wheel slippage (water, ice, mud and snow).
  • Excessive engine rpm in neutral.
  • Vehicle drive at a high rate of speed.
INSPECTION CHART - ENGINE RPM/VEHICLE SPEED LIMITER REACHED

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 DTCs P0219, P0297 OR P1270: EXCESSIVE ENGINE RPM OR VEHICLE SPEED
  • P0219 (engine over speed), P0297 (vehicle over speed) or P1270 DTCs indicate the vehicle was operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle speed to exceed a calibrated limit.
    • Excessive engine RPM in NEUTRAL or operated in the wrong transmission gear.
    • Excessive engine rpm in N (Neutral).
    • Vehicle driven at a high rate of speed.
  • Was the vehicle operating in any of the above conditions?Β 
Yes The on-board diagnostics (OBD) system is OK.
RETURN the vehicle to customer with information about the DTC.
No See DIAGNOSTIC INDEXΒ  . If there are no other symptoms, RETURN the vehicle to the customer with information about the DTC.
