DTC P2504 DETECTION & CONDITION POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P2504 Charging system voltage high
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • The PCM monitors the generator output voltage and the battery voltage when the engine is running. If the generator output voltage is more than 18.4 V  or the battery voltage is more than 15.9 V  , the PCM determines that the charging system voltage is high.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (Other).
  • The MIL does not illuminate.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • Generator malfunction
  • Connector or terminal malfunction
  • Short to power supply in wiring harness between generator terminal D and PCM terminal 21
  • PCM malfunction
