DTC P2404 [AJ] DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P2404 EVAP system leak detection pump sense circuit malfunction
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • The PCM monitors the pump load current (EVAP line pressure) when the EVAP leak monitor is operating. After obtaining the reference current value, if the time in which the pump load current reaches the reference current value is less than the specification, the PCM determines that the air filter is clogged.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is an intermittent monitor (CCM).
  • MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • Air filter clogging
  • EVAP hose bending
  • PCM malfunction
