WARNING:
- Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.
- Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedure". (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [BP, BP WITH TC] .)
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the under cover.
- Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
- Remove the front strut bar. (See FRONT STRUT BAR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [BP WITH TC] .)
- Remove the washer tank with the hose still connected.
- Remove the washer tank bracket.
- Remove the air hose No.2, air cleaner, and air pipe No.1. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [BP WITH TC] .)
- Remove the air pipe No.3 and air pipe No.5, air pipe No.6 and air hose No.8, air pipe No.5 and air hose No.7. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [BP WITH TC] .)
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly. (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [BP WITH TC] .)
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
- Remove the radiator. (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [BP WITH TC] .)
- Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENTΒ .)
- Remove the P/S oil pump with the oil hose still connected.
- Position the P/S oil pump so that it is out of the way.
- Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected.
- Position the A/C compressor so that it is out of the way.
- Disconnect the fuel hose.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose and engine harness connectors.
- Disconnect the heater hose.
- Remove the transmission. (See MANUAL TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [M15M-D] .) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Start the engine and
- Inspect for the engine oil, engine coolant, transmission oil and fuel leakage.
- Verify the ignition timing. (See IGNITION TIMING INSPECTIONΒ .)
- Verify the idle speed. (See IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENTΒ .)
- Verify the idle mixture. (See IDLE MIXTURE INSPECTIONΒ .)
- If the engine is overhauled and installed to the vehicle, perform the road test and verify that there is no abnormality.
