NOTE: Shutter valve actuator rod retracts for 5 seconds after engine is started.

Connect scan tool to DLC-2. DLC-2 is located under instrument panel, left of steering column. Select RPM PID. Start engine, and let idle. Turn on all electrical loads. Shutter valve actuator rod should be extended at idle. See Fig 1 . Gradually increase engine speed to 5250 RPM and ensure actuator rod retracts. If system actuator does not operate as specified, check for vacuum leaks. If no vacuum leaks are detected, check shutter valve and shutter valve solenoid.
