DTC P0704 [AJ] DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P0704 Clutch switch input malfunction
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • The PCM monitors changes in input voltage from the clutch pedal position switch. If the PCM does not detect voltage changes at PCM terminal 1 AB when the vehicle run with vehicle speed above 30 km/h {18.6 mph}  and stop 8 times  alternately, the PCM determines that the clutch pedal position switch circuit has a malfunction.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
  • MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • DTC is stored in PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • Clutch switch malfunction
  • Connector or terminal malfunction
  • Open circuit between clutch pedal position switch terminal D and body ground
  • Open circuit between clutch pedal position switch terminal B and PCM terminal 1 AB
  • Short to ground circuit between clutch pedal position switch terminal B and PCM terminal 1 AB
  • PCM malfunction
