Removal and Installation

- Set the mode select switch (MSS) to 4WD high position.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
- Disconnect the transfer case shift motor connector.
- Remove the bracket bolt and the transfer case shift motor bolts, then remove the transfer case shift motor.
- To install, Torque to 10 Nm {1.0 kgf-m, 89 in-lbf}.
- Remove the grease from the motor adapter and check for any nicks or burrs. If any damage is found, install a new transfer case shift motor as necessary.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Apply a coat of multi-purpose grease to the transfer case shift motor.
