Removal and Installation

2006 Mazda B4000 Base, AutomaticSECTION Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONALΒ  or see IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - NON FUNCTIONALΒ  .
  3. If equipped, remove the tilt release lever/ handle.
  4. Remove the 3 steering column cover screws and the upper and lower steering column covers.
  5. Remove the key release button bolt and the key release button and spring.
    • To install, tighten to 5 N-m (0.5 kgf-m, 44 in-lbf).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
