CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM PINPOINT TEST 7: FLASH CODE 2 - BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH CIRCUIT FAILURE

PINPOINT TEST 7 FLASH CODE 2 - BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH CIRCUIT FAILURE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP OPERATION
  • Apply and release the brake pedal while observing the stoplamps.
  • Do the stoplamps operate correctly?
Yes Go to next step.
No See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - STOPLAMPS to diagnose the stoplamps.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT 810 FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Speed control servo 0120-101.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 5.
3 CHECK THE BRAKE CIRCUIT
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Install a new cruise control servo. See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Go to next step.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT B FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch 0918-01.
  • Measure the resistance between the BPP switch 0918-01 pin 5, circuit LG/R, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Install a new BPP switch. See STOPLAMP SWITCH . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
5 CHECK THE CPP SWITCH FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Switch 0119-03.
  • Measure the resistance between the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 4 (component side) and the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 3 (component side).
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new CPP switch. See CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION (CPP) SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
6 CHECK CIRCUIT T/LB FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side and the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Repair circuit R/LG. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair circuit T/LB. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
