PINPOINT TEST 1 CRUISE CONTROL IS INOPERATIVE - NO FLASH CODES
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE ATTACHMENT TO THE THROTTLE
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Remove the accelerator control splash shield (if equipped). Inspect the cruise control cable attachment. Check the cruise control cable by pulling on the cruise control cable and noting the throttle movement.
  • Is the cruise control cable snapped onto the throttle body and is the cruise control cable movement OK? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Connect the cruise control cable. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
2 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO CONNECTION
  • Check that the cruise control servo connector is fully connected.
  • Is the cruise control servo connector correctly installed? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install the cruise control servo connector. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
3 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO
  • Disconnect: Speed Control Servo 0120-101.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 7, circuit R/LG, harness side and the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to step 5.
No Go to next step.
4 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL GROUND CIRCUIT B FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Repair circuit R/LG. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair circuit B. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
5 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH INPUT WITH NO BRAKES APPLIED
  • Measure the voltage between the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side and the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is any voltage present? 
Yes Repair circuit in T/LB. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Go to next step.
6 CHECK THE BRAKE CIRCUIT
  • Measure the resistance between the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB, harness side and the cruise control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 17.
7 CHECK THE DEACTIVATOR SWITCH INPUT TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO
  • Measure the voltage between the cruise control actuator 0120-101 pin 9, circuit B/Y, harness side and the cruise control actuator 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to step 10.
No Go to next step.
8 CHECK THE DEACTIVATOR SWITCH
  • Disconnect: Brake Pressure Switch 0120-04.
  • Measure the resistance between the brake pressure switch 0120-04 pin 1, component side and the brake pressure switch 0120-04 pin 2, component side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new deactivator switch. See CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
9 CHECK THE DEACTIVATOR SWITCH POWER
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the brake pressure switch 0120-04 pin 1, circuit LB/R, harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Repair circuit B/Y. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair circuit LB/R. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
10 CHECK FOR STUCK CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B, harness side and the cruise control actuator 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side.
  • Is any voltage present? 
Yes Go to step 18.
No Go to next step.
11 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B, harness side and the cruise control actuator 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B, harness side while pressing the cruise control switch ON.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to step 14.
No Go to next step.
12 CHECK CIRCUIT LB/B FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: Air bag sliding contact 0922-202.
  • Measure the resistance between the air bag sliding contact 0922-202 pin 6, circuit LB/B, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
13 CHECK THE AIR BAG SLIDING CONTACT FOR AN OPEN
  • Remove the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
  • Measure the resistance between the top of the air bag sliding contact pin 3 (component side) and the air bag sliding contact 0922-202 pin 6 (component side).
  • Is the resistance less than 1 ohm? 
Yes Install a new cruise control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Install the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Install a new air bag sliding contact. See CLOCKSPRING . Install the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
14 CHECK THE SET/ACCEL SWITCH
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B, harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 6, circuit DG/O, harness side while pressing the cruise control switch SET/ACCEL.
  • Is the resistance between 612 and 748 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new cruise control switch.
See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION .
Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
15 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER
  • Check the speedometer for correct operation by driving the vehicle.
  • Does the speedometer operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER to diagnose the instrument cluster.
16 CHECK CIRCUIT GY/B FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: PCM 0140-175.
  • Measure the resistance between the PCM 0140-175 pin 68, circuit GY/B harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 3, circuit GY/B harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 22.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
17 CHECK CIRCUIT B FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch 0918-01.
  • Measure the resistance between the BPP 0918-01 pin 1, circuit B, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes If equipped with an automatic transmission, Repair circuit R/LG. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
If equipped with a manual transmission, Go to step 20.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
18 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Remove the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
  • Install the Restraint System Diagnostic Tool SST  418-F088 (105-R0012) or equivalent.
  • Connect the battery. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  • Disconnect: Speed Control Switches.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B harness side.
  • Is any voltage present? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new cruise control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Disconnect the battery, See BATTERY DISCONNECT . Install the driver air bag, See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
19 CHECK CIRCUIT LB/B FOR SHORT TO POWER
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Air bag sliding contact 0922-202.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 5, circuit LB/B harness side and the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 10, circuit B harness side.
  • Is any voltage present? 
Yes Repair circuit LB/B. Disconnect the battery. See BATTERY DISCONNECT . Install the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Install a new air bag sliding contact. See CLOCKSPRING .
Disconnect the battery. See BATTERY DISCONNECT . Install the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
20 CHECK THE CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION (CPP) SWITCH FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch 0119-03.
  • Measure the resistance between the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 4 (component side) and the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 3 (component side).
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new CPP switch. See CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION (CPP) SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
21 CHECK CIRCUIT T/LB FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 4, circuit T/LB harness side and the CPP switch 0119-03 pin 4, circuit T/LB harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Repair circuit R/LG. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair circuit T/LB. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
22 CHECK THE SET/ACCEL SWITCH
CAUTION:
  • The vehicle must not be in 4WD mode. Make sure the vehicle is secured correctly before attempting to place the transmission range selector lever in DRIVE or in first gear if equipped with a manual transmission.
  • Connect: PCM 0140-175.
  • Jack up the drive wheels and chock the other wheels.
    NOTE:
    • For vehicles with a manual transmission, place the transmission into first gear.
  • Start the vehicle, place the transmission in DRIVE and with the engine at idle allow the drive wheels to spin.
  • Measure and record the AC voltage between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 3, circuit GY/B harness side and ground.
  • Apply the brakes until the drive wheels come to a stop. Place the transmission in PARK and turn the engine off.
  • Is the recorded AC voltage between 5 and 8 volts? 
Yes Install a new cruise control servo. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
