DTC P2504 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P2504 Battery overcharge
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • PCM judges generator output voltage is above 18.5 V  or battery voltage is above 16.0 V  during engine running.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (Other).
  • MIL does not illuminate.
  • PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • Short to power supply between generator connector terminal D and PCM connector terminal 2AI
  • Generator malfunction
  • PCM and/or generator are poorly connected.
