DTC P0462 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P0462 Fuel gauge sender unit circuit low input
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • The PCM monitors the signal of the fuel level and fuel gauge sender unit output voltage from instrument cluster. If the PCM detects fuel level or fuel gauge sender unit output voltage is too low, the PCM determines that the fuel gauge sender unit circuit has a malfunction.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
  • MIL illuminates if PCM detects above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

  • Instrument cluster malfunction
  • Fuel gauge sender unit malfunction
  • PCM malfunction

When to See a Mechanic
