2004 Mazda B4000 4WD V6-4.0L SOHCSECTION Axle Assembly Front Removal / Installation








AXLE ASSEMBLY FRONT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
Removal Note

1. Remove the front drive axle shaft.





2. Index the front propeller shaft to the companion flange.

Note:
^ Do not allow the propeller shaft to hang unsupported.

3. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the companion flange.
1. Remove the four bolts and remove the universal joint spider retainers.
2. Disconnect the driveshaft.
3. Position the driveshaft aside.
4. Disconnect the axle vent tube.
5. Support the axle with a suitable jack.





6. Remove the left front axle to frame bolt and nut.





7. Remove the other two axle to frame bolts and nuts.
8. Remove the axle.

Installation Note

Caution:
^ It is important to install the spacer, between the pinion arm bushing and the frame, in the same position as when removed.

Note:
^ Use new fasteners when installing the front axle.

1. Install in reverse order of removal.
