Using New Generation Star (NGS) Tool

1999 Mazda Protege ES, AutomaticSECTION Using New Generation Star (NGS) Tool
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool (49-T088-001 ) and NGS Self-Test Adapter (49-T088-033 ) to Data Link Connector (DLC)-1. DLC-1 is located in rear left corner of engine compartment. See Fig 1 . Set NGS Self-Test Adapter (49-T088-033 ) to ABS. Select VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION, then select NEW VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL and select model year (1999). Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK. Select ABS-ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE.
  2. Select DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES then select READ/CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC TEST RESULTS. Press Start button and note any codes displayed. If SYSTEM PASSED (NO DTCS AVAILABLE) appears, no DTCs are present and system is operating normally. If any DTCs are present, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATIONΒ  table. Perform appropriate diagnostic test. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTSΒ  . Clear DTCs after servicing. See CLEARING CODESΒ  .
