Disabling System (GS300 & GS400)

1999 Mazda Protege ES, AutomaticSECTION Disabling System (GS300 & GS400)
  1. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from vehicle owner and record preset radio frequencies before disconnecting battery.
  2. Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 SECONDS before working on vehicle.
  3. Disconnect driver-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector located under steering column lower cover, near combination switch connector. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector located on finish plate at right side of glove box. Air bag connector terminals are automatically shorted together. See Figure.
  4. Disconnect left and right side air bag modules Yellow 2-pin connectors located under each front seat. Disconnect left and right seat belt pretensioner Yellow 2-pin connectors located at center pillar lower garnish. Air bag connector terminals are automatically shorted together. See Figure.
