Electronic Ignition System

- All models use a distributorless high data rate electronic ignition system. Diagnosis of this ignition system requires some or all of the following equipment:
- High impedance DVOM.
- EDIS Diagnostic Harness (49 UN01 057).
- EEC 60-pin breakout box (49 UN01 058).
- 104-pin breakout box (49 UN01 130).
- New Generation Star Scan Tester (or OBD-II equivalent).
- Perform self diagnostic testing. See appropriate articles;
Record all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repair first code displayed first. Proceed to ELECTRONIC IGNITION DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS. See Fig 1 -Fig 11 .
- If no self-diagnostic DTCs exist, proceed to NO START (NO SPARK) DIAGNOSTIC CHART for test procedures.
