Shift Indicator Adjustment
Ensure engine is off and parking brake is set. Remove steering column upper cover. Set transmission shift lever in Overdrive position. Secure a 3-lb. (1.4 kg) weight to end of shift lever. Ensure shift indicator in instrument panel is positioned as shown. If adjustment is needed, turn thumbwheel on attaching cable. See Fig 1 .

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
