Electronic Ignition System

1995 Mazda B2300 SE, 2D Pickup, StandardSECTION Electronic Ignition System
  1. All models use a distributorless high data rate electronic ignition system. Diagnosis of this ignition system requires some or all of the following equipment:
    • High impedance DVOM.
    • EDIS Diagnostic Harness (49 UN01 057).
    • EEC 60-pin breakout box (49 UN01 058).
    • 104-pin breakout box (49 UN01 130).
    • New Generation Star Scan Tester (or OBD-II equivalent).
  2. Perform self diagnostic testing. See appropriate articles;

    BASIC TESTING

    TESTS W/CODES

    Record all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repair first code displayed first. Proceed to ELECTRONIC IGNITION DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS. See Fig 1 -Fig 11 .

  3. If no self-diagnostic DTCs exist, proceed to NO START (NO SPARK) DIAGNOSTIC CHART for test procedures.

When to See a Mechanic
