Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

WARNING: Explosion and fire hazard. Observe the following precautions when working on the fuel tank.
^ Be sure area is well ventilated.
^ Always relieve fuel system pressure before disconnecting fuel lines.
^ Do not smoke or light cigarettes where fuel vapor odor is present.
^ Disconnect battery. Do not create sparks or flames where fuel vapor odor is present.

3. Gauge unit connection

5. Pump gauge
6. Pump connector
7. Bracket
8. Rubber mount
9. Fuel pump
10. Fuel filter (low pressure side)
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Remove rear seat cushion.
3. Disconnect fuel tank gauge unit electrical connector and remove access cover.
4. Disconnect fuel hoses.
5. Remove fuel pump/gauge unit from tank.
6. Install in reverse order.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force when hose onto fuel pump nipple. After installing pump to bracket, pull pump down tight against bracket.
